Charlie Hollis Whittington
Director of Research and Publications
Charlie is a Founder and Director of Research and Publications for the McCourt LGBTQ Policy Initiative. She has been a research-based advocate of LGBTQ people for nearly five years, and served as a Research Assistant at the Congressional Management Foundation in 2016 and currently as the Center for American Progress’ LGBT Research and Communications Project Intern. In 2014, she led the LGBTQ sexual assault awareness campaign on V-Day for Coastal Carolina University’s PRIDE chapter. She served as Coastal Carolina University’s President of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honors Society and as an Appointee to the Student Life Committee where she initiated a campaign for disability awareness. In 2017, Charlie was recognized by Coastal’s Edwards College of Humanities and Arts with the Outstanding Researcher Award as well as Second Place in Oral Presentations in the Undergraduate Research competition. She has had presentations accepted to the South Carolina and Midwestern Political Science Associations for the past three years, and has two forthcoming peer review journal articles with Duke Law Schools’s journal, Judicature, and McCourt’s very own Georgetown Public Policy Review. Charlie also writes for the Georgetown Public Policy Review’s Online Team on Digital and Economic Policy, where she has a forthcoming article on an economic theory model of productivity. In hopes to continue her passion for research and statistics, Charlie desires to acquire her PhD in a public policy related field, focusing on statistical methodologies.

Rachel Piñate
Associate Director of Research and Publications
Rachel Piñate studies global politics and security, human rights, and civil rights. Since moving to DC in 2012, Rachel has been involved in non-profit advocacy and development work. As Assistant Director, Rachel oversees the progress of the LGBTQ+ Initiative Global Report as well as advocacy and strategic initiatives related to research.
